What’s the one thing I’d recommend to anyone trying to grow a business without losing their mind in 2025?
Get a coach.
Not exactly a ground-breaking revelation, I know.
But honestly without a great business coach – someone to hold me accountable and keep me focused – I don’t think I’d still be doing this.
But finding the right coach isn’t easy. Everyone seems to call themselves a coach these days..
Some are brilliant.
Others… not so much.
Having worked with a few over the years, here’s what I’ve found separates the great coaches from the rest of the crowd.
🔍 They ask the right questions
The best coaches I’ve worked with don’t just give out advice. They ask eye-opening questions that help you think clearly and come to your own conclusions.
There’s an art to asking questions that inspire and guide, and not every coach knows how to do it.
🔄 They adapt to you
A good coach meets you where you are. They don’t try to “fix” you or suggest that success means sacrificing time with your family or changing who you are.
A truly great coach helps you grow as the person you are, not the one they think you should be.
🤝 They have a strong network
So this isn’t a dealbreaker, but a coach with a strong network tells me they’re someone who’s well-respected and trusted in the business world.
And sometimes, that network can be a game-changer. Through my coach I’ve made some great new connections that have massively helped me and my business.
❤️ You actually like them
Sounds obvious, doesn’t it? But this matters more than people think.
You’re opening yourself up, sharing your ambitions and fears and struggles. It can be scary!
You need to feel safe. You need someone you can trust. And you need someone who gets you, not just your business.
I’ve been really lucky to find all of that in Justin Charlton-Jones – calm, thoughtful, and totally committed to helping me find my own way forward.
He’s been an essential part of helping me stay grounded, productive, and (mostly!) sane in 2025.
I’m excited to be spending today with him alongside some other businesses that he’s working with at his quarterly Growth Club.
