Flip The Mindset
Flipping the mindset switch is something that is easier said than done. Getting control over the mind is one of the most challenging tasks because of all the noise in mind. The pattern of answering all the noise in my mind has made it all the more difficult. But the good news is, slowly and gradually, you can flip the mindset and learn to become a leader by doing what needs to be done instead of thinking about what you can do!
Occurrences of small, unplanned events at the start of the day are enough to make the whole day sore. Things like forgetting to pay the bill, spilled coffee, and no milk in the fridge for breakfast can trigger the mood. When you already have zero motivation to go to work, and something terrible like this happens, it is easy to give up for the day and listen to the mind. Like feeling lazy to get out of bed on a winter morning, and you decide to call in sick at your workplace.
But that is no way of leading life, it is not wrong to take breaks when you need one, you have to control the kind of break you want. Research shows that we can alter our minds and change how we react to certain situations. We can flip the mindset with some simple processes, which can help you if you are a businessman. Your Life is as Good as Your Mindset
Train Your Mind
As in a business, you are bound to face some hardships and see things you are not emotionally and mentally ready to see. Therefore, there are two kinds of stress mindset: a stress-is-debilitating mindset and a stress-is-enhancing mindset. The meaning of these terms depends on how you react to a situation when you are under stress. The former means that you view stress as a significant setback and think about it. However, the latter means that you see stress-bringing situations as an opportunity for growth and development.
The ones who have been practising a stress-is-enhancing mindset are research backed to lead a fruitful life. They are more healthy, with fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression, and were also seen with higher energy levels than the others. Changing the mindset and not living with a stress-is-debilitating mindset is tough, but you can take simple steps to change your habit and become successful in business with good health. So it is a win-win situation.
How To Flip The Mindset
Widely there are people with two kinds of mindsets, one thinks that the way to grow in life is through intelligence, innate abilities, talents, and hard work. They want approval and look good in front of other people, motivated by rewards and doing better than others. They carry the fear of failure as failure may depict something negative about their personality.
The second category of people are those who have a growth mindset. They think that abilities can be developed by hard work that consists of training, learning, and persistence. They are just open to learning and believe that failure makes them better at their work and just want to learn as a habit of their life and learning is fun, challenging and pleasing for them. Research backs the fact that leaders with a growth mindset are better than ones with a fixed mindset.
People with stress-is-enhancing mindsets consciously make a switch to flip their mindsets and change the script. After they change they analyse whether the newly arisen challenge is worth accepting or not.
1. Take Some Time Off At Regular Intervals
You will be happy to know that even physical acts can help you break the monotony and make you feel better. So you have to do it even if it feels counterintuitive to get away from situations at the moment.
Eating your food intently instead of gulping it down the throat is an excellent way of taking a break. Then, go for a run or a walk. You can even wash all your memories from the day down the drain. It may sound silly, but you can practise doing it temporarily.
2. Head Out For A Run
Nothing better than going for a run when you do not feel like it. Running is called the mother of all exercises for a reason. You must have heard about the runner’s high that brings the runner back daily on the track.
When a person runs, the body secretes a chemical called endocannabinoids. The body even releases these when someone is exercising, which can help to de-stress.
3. Practise Empathy
Instead of reacting to someone who comes at you, you can think by stepping in their shoes. You can believe by putting yourself in their place; the person may be having a bad day. Think of it as someone cutting you off while driving rashly; the easiest thing to do is chase them or cuss them.
But the hard thing to do is think about the situation of the person and show empathy. Try getting past that car without saying or doing anything. You will feel more peace.
4. Prepare To Embrace Challenges
Try to look at the challenges with a broader perspective as growth opportunities rather than something that will keep you from doing your best. You should think of overcoming an obstacle as soon as you see one.
That is how the change will work for you and become a habit if you treat stress as a circumstance where you can learn something new rather than only seeing the negative side and dwelling on it.
Next time something wrong happens to you in your day, rather than dwelling on it, look at it as a chance to learn something new. Please take it as a challenge and strive to overcome it.
